We are looking for Pastry Chef to work onboard River Ships Winter season 2022 (starting approx. end NOV 2022), Season 2023:
1. EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS/ CHARACTER
Must have strong knowledge of international cuisine;
Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role;
Great attention to detail and creativity;
Organizing and leadership skills;
Willingness to replenish professional knowledge;
In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition;
Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.);
Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field;
Must have knowledge of the HACCP standards;
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team;
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times;
Must have English and/ or German language skills;
Must be reliable and able to work unsupervised;
Must be able to work flexible time schedule and to the Company’s standards.
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Be friendly to passengers and crew as well as focused on job tasks;
Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes;
Create new and exciting desserts to renew the menus and engage the interest of the passengers;
Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting;
Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget;
Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking;
Guide and motivate pastry assistants to work more efficiently;
Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards;
Perform all duties assigned efficiently, follow the Company’s standards, adhere to procedures of the training manual.
