As a Front Desk Manager you are responsible for a friendly and polite interaction with the passengers to guarantee a maximum satisfaction of the guests as well as an efficient organisation and realisation at the front desk. You are the direct link between the passengers and the crew and you manage, motivate and train the Night Watch and the Receptionist. The Front Desk Manager also takes care of correct accounting and administration related to purchases and cash-handling.

Accountability:The Front Desk Manager reports directly to the Hotel Manager and stays in touch with the Head Office on a daily basis.

Flexibility:Flexible to assist and in any other areas and departments if required.

Tasks

  • In charge of the Administration on board the ship
  • Preparation of all Custom papers
  • Manage and supervise the passenger and crew embarkation and disembarkation
  • Arranging inquiries that represent the hotel services, policies and regulations
  • Receiving and processing payments, responsible for the ship’s cashbook/crew accounting
  • Attending to guests’ enquiries, requests, complaints and compliments
  • Greeting the guest on arrival and departure and allocation of cabins, key handling etc.
  • Assisting the Hotel Manager with the supervision of the front office staff, from maintaining proper cash control to guest service standards on a day-to-day basisInforming other operating departments of all Front Office matters that concerns them
  • Co-operating with head of departments for preparation of supply/stock lists which will then need to be communicate with the Head Office
  • Responsible of providing the crew of any updates and information provided by the Head Office
  • Providing the crew introduction to the ships and if required instruction of the safety procedures
  • Available of dealing with the suppliers
  • Responsible for the good use of machinery and equipment on board
  • Responsible of the training and smooth management of the Receptionist and Night Watch

Requirements

  • A Degree in Hospitality, Accounting/Finance or relevant department
  • At least three or four years of hotel or prior ship experience in a comparable position (To be proven with recommendation letters of prior employment)
  • Excellent command of the English language is required and Good Command of German language (knowledge of any additional languages such as Spanish will act as an advantage)
  • Ability to co-ordinate all Frontdesk arrangements
  • Computer literate with knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Fidelio
  • A flexible and motivated team player.
  • Friendly, well groomed and clean appearance.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities for self and others
