Line Crewing is seeking qualified candidates for the position of HEAD WAITER to work onboard European river cruise vessels, with full onboard accommodation provided.

Experience, Skills, and Character

  • Minimum 1 year experience in ships or hotel industry.
  • Strong public relations skills with excellent command of English and/or German.
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP standards.
  • Knowledge of table reservation systems, special diets, and ethnic food.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and passengers.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work unsupervised.
  • Able to cover for the Assistant Maître D’hôtel during holidays or sick leave.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules according to company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

General Conduct:

  • Maintain a friendly and professional attitude when interacting with passengers and crew while staying focused on assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to company appearance standards (no visible piercings while on duty, except regular stud earrings for female crew).

Operational & Cost Control:

  • Ensure all necessary tasks are performed to maintain maximum cost control.
  • Oversee and efficiently manage passenger seating to ensure smooth dining operations.
  • Ensure the Restaurant crew consistently uphold the highest standards in Food & Beverage service, hygiene, and company policies as per the Hotel Management Manual.

Leadership, Communication & Service Excellence:

  • Conduct induction and training for new crew members and monitor their performance.
  • Lead by example, fostering a productive and professional work environment for subordinates.
  • Seek assistance from the Maître D’hôtel and Hotel Manager whenever necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication between the Restaurant Department and other vessel departments.
  • Ensure the Restaurant notice board is neat, organized, and up to date.
  • Personally follow up on all passenger complaints concerning the Restaurant Department to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Ensure restaurant service adheres to standards outlined in the Hotel Management Manual and meets company expectations.
  • Maintain professional, friendly, and efficient communication with passengers.

Safety, Compliance & Reporting:

  • Be aware of and adhere to security, fire, and safety procedures according to vessel regulations.
