As Entertainment Director, you will  create lasting memories by leading, mentoring, and developing a diverse Entertainment team to consistently deliver a guest and product experience that embraces experiential ownership, aligning with our brand standards.



Key Responsibilities

  • Owns the Entertainment experience and oversees the development, implementation, and execution in alignment with the shipboard leaders. Accountable for the full spectrum of Entertainment operations, including communication, problem resolution and all Service Excellence related guest inquiries.
  • Collaborates with Entertainment Managers to ensure team is consistently delivering a customized entertainment experience for our guests. Responsible for sharing best practices amongst team to encourage increased personalization to each guest. 
  • Ensures operational efficiency and quality assurance of all Entertainment products by conducting regular inspections.
  • Manages Entertainment repairs and maintenance by conducting regular meetings with the shipboard Technical department, ensuring all relative documentation is accurate and up to date. 
  • Consistently oversees the monitoring and resolution of all issues that affect the Entertainment product and the guests' cruise experience.
  • Consistently manages and controls all department costs and inventory levels in line with established budgets. 
  • Continually reviews strategies to find cost efficiencies; monitors operating standards, staffing levels, rotations, etc., to identify cost saving opportunities without adversely affecting product standards. 
  • Ensures that service recovery is prioritized by all team members, provides guidance and training to managers and front line team, leads by example by proactively participating in service recovery moments as they present themselves, department lead for entertainment centric recovery and resolution needs
  • Maintains a highly visible profile in public areas at critical times to assess entertainment programming effectiveness by observing guest enjoyment and traffic flow.
  • Conducts regular Entertainment management meetings and full department meetings.  Communicates policies discuss issues with the team, motivates team members, strategizes long-term plans, and activates change to maximize guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures all entertainment elements of our First & Last Impressions program are delivered on brand—partners with Cruise Director to ensure leadership presence on the floor for embarkation and debarkation.
  • Ensures Entertainment Team is marketing all elements of Medallion Class in a way this is efficient, effective, and on-brand.  Adjusts the marketing and messaging daily by responding to the engagement trends of guests with each various Medallion Class product.
  • Ensures both revenue and non-revenue areas receive appropriate, effective marketing and promotion via The Wake Show, announcements, TV commercials, entertainment delivery of 'call to action' moments, 'Message on the Mic', etc.  Works with Customers Services Director to ensure that non-revenue to revenue events ratio is well balanced, as outlined by policy.
  • Promote a "speak-up" culture among the Team and encourages all members of the Entertainment Department to implement ideas or small innovations that can be beneficial to the Team.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • At least 5 years of managing/supervising an entertainment-related product with a large team is required. Ship's experience is strongly preferred.
  • MBA / Master Degree is preferred.
  • Languages: Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of other languages is also preferred.
  • Natural leadership and management abilities with a keen understanding of emotional intelligence. Ability to lead large international teams.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, systematic, computer savvy, data-driven, analytical.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
  • Understanding of the foundation of guest service; ability and willingness to deliver outstanding service to our guests. 
  • Motivation to excel in all aspects of job duties and responsibilities. 
  • Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality. 
  • Ability to continuously surprise and delight guests throughout their cruise experience. 
  • Commitment to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
