Your Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the routine and strategic functions of engineering and construction for MSC Cruises’ building sites located throughout North America and the Caribbean, while also supporting the company’s initiatives in The Bahamas, including our private island destination, Ocean Cay. This role oversees the full project lifecycle, including review and approval of engineering and architectural drawings, construction documents, project specifications, permitting, and the management of all aspects of project delivery. Responsibilities include project administration, design and construction management, project performance oversight, internal and external stakeholder coordination and management, development and control of financial metrics and schedules, and the planning, implementation, and enforcement of quality assurance standards for all project deliverables.
The opportunity requires 4 in-office days / week, in Miami FL. Also travel to construction sites throughout US, North America, and the Caribbean (including The Bahamas).
Your Impact
- Lead project management and administration activities throughout the design and construction lifecycle, including technical scope, staffing requirements, schedule development, and financial controls
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including consultants, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and other key stakeholders
- Review, coordinate, and approve contracts, engineering drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Develop, manage, and track project budgets; review invoices and pay applications and recommend approval or disposition
- Manage projects delivered through Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR/GMP), and other alternative delivery methods
- Prepare project and program budgets, including construction cost estimates; review and validate estimates prepared by contractors and consultants
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholder departments and divisions to ensure alignment with operational, brand, and strategic objectives
- Provide direct support to CTLM Construction Directors and Managers
- Proactively identify and resolve issues or conflicts between the organization, consultants, contractors, and other third parties
- Ensure full compliance with applicable safety regulations, building codes, environmental requirements, and quality standards
- Identify, assess, and report project risks, including the development and execution of mitigation plans
- Lead or support negotiations with external vendors, consultants, and contractors as required
- Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction to obtain and maintain all required permits, licenses, and approvals for construction activities
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with management and stakeholders regarding project status; prepare progress reports, meeting agendas and minutes.
- Prepare executive level and/or steering committee presentations
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, verify quality, and ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications
- Oversee development and completion of punch lists and support project close-out and acceptance activities
- Manage and coordinate Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documentation and handover processes upon project completion
Your Journey so far
- Extensive experience developing, managing, and tracking construction budgets, including preparation of rough order-of-magnitude (ROM) estimates
- Extensive experience reviewing construction bids, cost proposals, and contractor pricing
- Strong experience preparing and managing high-level and detailed construction schedules
- Excellent knowledge of construction materials, equipment, means, and methods
- Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent time management, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in design management and on-site construction project management; experience on non-US mainland or international sites is a plus
- Proven experience managing projects using Design-Build, CMAR/GMP, and other alternative delivery methods
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint and project management and construction software tools
- Strong knowledge of applicable local building codes, regulatory requirements, permitting processes, and quality standards
