Your Purpose

Due to the continued growth of our Public Health & Food Safety team, we are recruiting Travelling Fleet Supervisors to join MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.

In this highly visible and impactful role, you will provide comprehensive public health and food safety oversight across our global fleet, including operational vessels, newbuilds, dry docks, refits, and selected shoreside offices. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will play a key role in safeguarding health standards, supporting our onboard teams, and ensuring full compliance with international public health and food safety regulations.

You will work closely with shipboard leadership, corporate stakeholders, and project teams to drive continuous improvement, deliver targeted training, support corrective actions, and help strengthen a strong and consistent public health culture across the fleet.

Your Impact

Operational Public Health & Food Safety Oversight

  • Conduct internal inspections and reviews of onboard public health and food safety operations.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company standards and international regulations, including but not limited to CDC VSP, SHIPSAN / Healthy Gateways, ANVISA, ISO 22000, and other applicable maritime health standards.
  • Support onboard leadership teams by clearly communicating risks, findings, and improvement actions.
  • Perform risk analyses to assess existing procedures and recommend updates or development of new practices.
  • Collect, analyze, and trend root causes of non conformities to support continuous improvement initiative

 

Food Safety Audits & Compliance

  • Coordinate and manage the internal audit schedule in alignment with fleet operational needs.
  • Prepare, issue, and distribute audit reports, non conformities, and internal audit certificates.
  • Review and approve corrective actions and verify closure of non conformities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the onboard Food Safety Management System (FSMS).

 

Training & Capability Development

  • Act as designated lead trainer for the fleet’s food safety training program.
  • Deliver targeted onboard public health and food safety training to leadership, middle management, and crew.
  • Support HR L&D and Manning Agencies with pre embarkation, online, onsite, and train the trainer programs.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on fleetwide food safety training data and effectiveness.
  • Provide coaching and formal feedback to onboard Public Health Officers and relevant shipboard roles.

 

Newbuilds, Drydock & Project Oversight

  • Provide public health and food safety expertise during all phases of newbuild, drydock, refurbishment, and major refit projects.
  • Conduct inspections, readiness assessments, and compliance validations during construction and pre delivery stages.
  • Review and validate design, layout, flow, and installation of public health critical areas.
  • Identify potential compliance risks early and ensure timely mitigation.
  • Collaborate closely with shipyards, project teams, and corporate stakeholders.

 

Process Review & Continuous Improvement

  • Review and support implementation of Corrective Action Statements (CAS).
  • Conduct process and SOP reviews to ensure effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Capture best practices and improvement opportunities and share with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support corporate public health initiatives and implementation of new standards and procedures.

 

Administrative & Corporate Support

  • Review onboard public health reports and provide structured feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with MSC travel policies and documentation requirements.
  • Submit required expense reports and administrative documentation.
  • Participate in public health and food safety meetings, trainings, management reviews, and crisis management activities as required.

Your Journey so far

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a public health or food safety role within the maritime or cruise industry.
  • Experience in auditing, training, supervisory, or project roles strongly preferred.
  • Experience with newbuilds, drydock, or refit projects is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Food Safety, Microbiology, or related science field preferred; equivalent maritime public health certification or relevant onboard experience may be accepted.
  • Certifications such as HACCP, ISO 22000 Lead Auditor, CDC VSP, or Train the Trainer are preferred.

  • Excellent communication, training, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and report writing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic operational environments.
  • High level of professionalism and cultural awareness.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Extensive international and shipboard travel required.
  • The right to live, work and travel freely around Europe.
