3rd Officer

We are pleased to announce we are looking to hire a 3rd Officer for the Deck Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Safe navigation during watch-keeping
Maintenance of logbooks as assigned.
Preparation of the bridge for arrivals/departures as per checklists
Compliance with safe working practices
Compliance with Permits to Work that are in force.
Speaking up / stopping work when unsafe acts or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Assists with:

Preparation of safe Passage Plans
Regular checks, tests, and maintenance of navigational and radio equipment
Training and mentoring of Deck Cadets, trainees, and ratings.
Emergency training and drills of crew and passengers
Environmental compliance

Other duties and responsibilities:

Forms part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organization and muster lists)
Supervises mooring / unmooring / anchoring operations, when required.
Reporting of any non-conformities or defects if/when discovered
Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Master and 2 IC

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
