Assistant Hotel Engineer

We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a Assistant Hotel Engineer for the Engine Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

Manage the Planned Maintenance System and its documentation related to hotel installations.
Advising HoED on all important matters connected with hotel installations including operational availability.
Thorough examination of hotel installations and maintenance records upon joining
Lead team of crew responsible for maintenance of hotel installations
Maintenance and repair of hotel technical equipment as assigned.
Ensure appropriate Permits to Work are issued and followed.
Report to HoED:
Accidents and Incidents, Near Misses, Unsafe Conditions and Unsafe Acts
Non-conformities or defects when discovered.
Maintenance requirements and progress updates
Work and rest hour breaches / records for crew under their responsibility.
Speaking up when unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Monitor:

Condition of equipment under their responsibility
Avoid Verbal Orders (AVOs) and prioritise tasks in close cooperation with hotel department.
Inventory and spare parts requisitions for equipment under their responsibility.
Compliance with work and rest hours of crew under their responsibility
Performance of crew under their responsibility

Other duties and responsibilities:

Attend Ship Safety and Environmental Protection Committee meetings as required.
Keep high standards of discipline and behaviour.
Appraisals of crew under their responsibility
Environmental compliance
Form part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organization and muster lists)
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the HoED.

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude
• Employee focused with a positive personality and professional attitude
