Ordinary Seaman

We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a Ordinary Seaman for the Deck Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

Cleanliness and upkeep of:
Open decks and exterior areas of the vessel
Swimming pools, hot tubs and jacuzzi
Tender boat crew operations
Surface preparation and maintenance including:
Painting
Safe use of hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools and equipment
Inspection of equipment before use
Use of correct PPE
Compliance with Permits to Work that are in force.
Compliance with safe working practices
Speaking up and/or stopping work if/when unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Carry out any shipboard activities as directed by the Bosun, including but not limited to:

Cleanliness and appearance of open decks and exterior areas of the vessel
Movement / operation of cranes
Duties at mooring and anchor stations
Handling and stowage of stores, spares and consumables
Maintenance and repairs

Other duties and responsibilities:

part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organisation)
Ship security duties.
Environmental compliance
Participate in emergency training and drills on deck.
Report any non-conformities or defects.
Keep and promote high standards of discipline and behaviour.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the HoDD and Bosun

Qualifications:

Requirements as per company certification matrix
Good knowledge of deck maintenance and operations
Good knowledge of safety requirements
Good verbal and written command of the English language
Strong communication skills
Diligence and punctuality
Ability to work well with multinational crew.
Neat appearance

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude
