Job Title: First Officer – Deck

Position Summary:

A licensed Watchkeeping Officer responsible for maintaining vessel operations, safety standards, and deck maintenance. This role includes navigation duties, emergency readiness, and crew training responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Watchkeeping

• Maintain safety, security, and environmental compliance during watch.
• Monitor alarms and indicators continuously; conduct safety rounds.
• Report significant events to superiors promptly; act decisively when necessary.
• Maintain discipline on the bridge and oversee performance of watchkeeping personnel.
• In port, supervise mooring operations, gangways, and respond to environmental changes.
Tender Operations
• Operate tender boats when needed to ensure safe transfer of passengers and crew.

Navigation & Compliance
• Adhere to Navigation Policies, SOPs, and the Master’s Standing Orders.
• Ensure compliance with rest hour regulations and report any deviations.

Deck Maintenance
• Coordinate all deck maintenance activities in collaboration with the Bosun.
• Plan, monitor, and report maintenance using the designated system.
• Oversee spare part requisitions and maintain cleanliness of deck areas.
• Track expenditures and promote cost-effective practices.

Stability & Safety
• Be prepared to perform stability calculations as required.
• Conduct and support safety drills and crew training in collaboration with Safety and Security Officers.

Other Duties
• Attend meetings, training, and perform related tasks as assigned.
• Ensure professional conduct in all interactions with guests and crew.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• Extensive experience onboard, minimum of 3 consecutive contracts holding this title in a major cruise line
• Unlimited Officer of the Watch (OOW) License.
• Completion of required regulatory and company-specific training.

Language Skills:
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Additional languages (e.g., Spanish, French, German) preferred.
