Shop Supervisor – Job Description

Location: On board international cruise ships (worldwide itineraries)
Start Date: Upon completion of mandatory onboarding and STCW training
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (approximately 5 months +/- 1 month)
Working Hours: Full-time, shift-based schedule including weekends and holidays
Accommodation: Shared double cabin provided onboard
Travel & Meals: Fully covered by the company
Salary: Gross Monthly Salary €1,719 + Performance Bonus €1,050 (at 100% target achievement)

2. Job Description

As a Shop Supervisor, you will act as the right hand of the Shop Manager, supporting daily retail operations and helping achieve sales, service, and operational goals onboard. You will play a key role in leading the retail team, maintaining excellent guest experiences, and ensuring high standards across onboard shops.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the Shop Manager in daily retail operations and team coordination
Driving sales performance and contributing to achieving store targets
Monitoring sales results, inventory levels, and stock replenishment
Delivering exceptional customer service and building strong guest relationships
Supporting product presentation, visual merchandising, and promotional activities
Ensuring the store maintains high standards of cleanliness, organization, and brand image
Providing feedback and operational insights to the Shop Manager and Sales leadership team
Supporting sales strategies based on guest preferences and business performance
Assisting with stock control procedures, audits, and loss prevention processes
Ensuring compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and onboard regulations
Supporting and motivating the retail team in a multicultural environment

3. Requirements / The Ideal Candidate Should Have:

Minimum 5 years of proven experience in retail sales, preferably within fashion, luxury retail, jewellery, beauty, or premium brands
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is highly preferred
Strong sales ability with proven experience achieving targets
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to lead, motivate, and support a diverse international team
Experience with store procedures, sales reports, inventory control, and audits
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
English proficiency at B1 level minimum
Italian language knowledge is an advantage
Knowledge of an additional European language (French, Spanish, or German) is considered an asset
Previous shipboard experience is an advantage
Computer literacy and ability to work with retail systems
Willingness to live and work onboard for the entire contract period
Willingness to complete mandatory STCW safety training before embarkation
